  1. These pollarded trees remind me sadly of the fate of my own magnificent Jade tree (or ‘Money Tree’ if you prefer). I’d seen a photo of a gigantic specimen in Japan, too large to keep indoors, so moved my own over-sized plant to the back garden. Last winter I realized to my horror it was getting the vegetable equivalent of frostbite! It’s showing signs of new growth now that it’s back in the porch, but is a sad memory of its former glory.
